Vintage Han Solo in Carbonite

Han Solo is a privateer and mercenary, and was frequently employed by Jabba the Hut. During one of his assignments, he was forced to dump Jabba's cargo to avoid arrest. He was never able to pay Jabba back, which led to the bounty on his head, and ultimately, incarceration in a frozen block of carbonite.

Carbon freezing is used to bond condensed Tibanna gas for transport, but can also keep life forms alive in suspended animation. Jabba planned to incarcerate Luke Skywalker in carbonite, and when he capture Han, he decided to test the procedure out.
